UM Commencement – Graduation with a ‘Swoosh’
The chief operating officer of NIKE, Eric Sprunk, will speak to the University of Montana graduating class at the May commencement in Missoula. Sprunk graduated from UM in 1986 and is the leader of NIKE's manufacturing, sourcing, IT, and supply planning and procurement. He worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers before moving to NIKE in 1993 and became one of the youngest people to hold the vice president position at the company. He then stepped into the newly created CEO role. NIKE, of course, is famous for its trademark 'swoosh' on its athletic gear.
Sprunk and his wife Blair have continued to support the school. His son, Cooper, played on the Grizzly football team and graduated from the College of Business last year. Sprunk's late mother, Rachel, was a supporter of UM's performing arts.
Sprunk will speak at two main graduation ceremonies in the Adams Center May 12, according to Paula Short, Director of Communications. The professional schools ceremony will start at 9:30 a.m. and the Missoula College and College of Humanities and Sciences will be at 2:30 p.m. Both ceremonies are open to the public. Students are asked to RSVP with "approximate number" of family and friends who will be attending. For more information, check the Commencement website or call 243-5600.
