The University of Montana is in the process of approving a bio-mass boiler that would use wood to heat campus buildings. Dean of the Department of Forestry and Conservation James Burchfield says it’s much better for the environment to burn wood than to utilize other sources of energy such as coal. Approval for the bio-mass boiler will go before the Air Pollution Control Board on November 2nd. The University claims the boiler will reduce the school’s energy footprint, and save money, as well.
