Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 8, 2026, a Missoula County Sheriff's Office Detective requested assistance to stop a vehicle that was the subject of an investigation by the Montana Regional Violent Crime Task Force. The vehicle, a white 2025 Subaru Outback, was believed to be transporting fentanyl and methamphetamine based on information received by the Task Force. The white Subaru was rented from Hertz and scheduled to be returned on April 7, 2026, at 7:45 p.m.

Law enforcement positioned themselves at various points along I-90 between Alberton, Montana, and Fish Creek. The detective observed the Subaru traveling east on I-90, approximately two miles east of Fish Creek, and positively identified the driver. Law enforcement tried to execute a traffic stop, but a chase ensued that reached speeds of approximately 130 mph.

Between mile markers 90-94, a deputy observed multiple objects being thrown from the passenger-side window. The first item appeared to be a plastic fast-food cup lid. The deputy also observed what appeared to be a plastic bag or Saran Wrap-style material exit the passenger window, strike the ground, and create a visible dust cloud. Based on his training and experience, the detective believed that the items being thrown were likely fentanyl and/or methamphetamine.

Once the pursuit ended, it was learned that 28-year-old Connor White was seated in the passenger seat. The detective and a DEA Agent conducted an interview with the driver. The driver informed the detective that he traveled to Spokane to purchase fentanyl powder and methamphetamine for personal use. The driver informed the detective that White also purchased an ounce of fentanyl powder.

According to court documents, the driver said that when law enforcement attempted to stop him that he freaked out and made a stupid decision. The driver threw his fentanyl powder into a drunk cup that was in the center console, and White threw the cup out of the window. The driver also said that White threw his fentanyl powder out of the window.
