Wednesday is Halloween, and hundreds of kids will be trick-or-treating throughout Western Montana.

Missoula police have some helpful tips to make sure your ghosts and goblins stay safe while they're out having fun. Detective Sergeant Travis Welsh reminds parents to go along with their smaller children, and to make sure older kids have flashlights and cell phones to make communication easier.

Welsh says to look closely at all the treats the kids bring home, and accept nothing that is home made.

He says police will be out on Halloween looking for adult partygoers who drink and drive, so please choose a designated driver before the party.
