A Montana State Prison inmate serving a life sentence for killing a transient near Missoula has died.

A local transient, identified in court documents as John Mulligan, appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Monday, charged with stabbing a Missoula man on the Reserve Street Bridge over the weekend.

Update March 21: The police investigation into the death of Keith Byington, whose body was found near the railroad tracks in Missoula on March 4, has concluded that no foul play was involved in Byington's death.

Bernard Frank, a transient who listed his home as the streets of Missoula, was charged with felony burglary on Wednesday, January 15, in justice court.

At about 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 9-1-1 reported an automatic front door alarm at Murdoch's Ranch and Home Supply on West Broadway in Missoula.
