You may have noticed what looked like small snowflakes drifting down from the sky in western Montana on Monday, but they were actually bits of ash that traveled from California, Washington and Oregon fires all the way to the Missoula valley.
Smoke seems to be clouding the sky over Missoula today, Tuesday, July 31 and according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Travis Booth, the smoke is coming from far-away wildfires.
With all the unhealthy air condition warnings Missoula County received in 2017, the haze currently floating over western Montana might be a little bit concerning.
Smoke in western Montana was especially bad this week , and according to DEQ Air Quality Meteorologist Kristen Martin, it’s not likely to get better for many more days
