Mountain Lion

A mountain lion sighted by a Missoula school bus driver provoked a bit of alarm for parents on the south side of Missoula after the public school system sent out warnings on Friday, September 27.

A gristly set of four-year-old photos has been circling the web recently on reddit and the photo site imgur portraying the violent conclusion to a wildlife brawl in Glacier National Park.

Biologists with the University of Montana and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks are starting a one-year study on mountain lions living in the east and west fork drainages of the Bitterroot River where a three-year elk study is also being conducted.

Investigators believe that the mountain lion that reportedly stalked a four-year-old girl at the Harper's Lake Campground last week was recently discovered outside a home near the river watch trail north of the lake.
