Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks officials are breathing a sigh of relief after investigating the death of several hundred whitefish in the Yellowstone River this week.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is proposing the removal of non-native cutthroat trout from Overwhich Creek and its tributaries in the Bitterroot Valley.

After a brief meeting of the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission, a large portion of the Yellowstone River has been reopened to public use for fishing, floating and recreating, with certain restrictions.
