31 year-old Thomas Truett was charged Friday afternoon in Missoula Justice Court with two counts of sexual abuse of children, after allegedly setting up a meeting with a person he thought was a 14 year-old girl. Missoula County Deputy Attorney Jason Marks says Truett contacted the girl with inappropriate text messages starting on the 17th. The girl’s mother contacted police, and Detective Shermer began communicating with Truett as the young girl..

The maximum penalty for each charge is life in prison. Truett is not currently incarcerated in the Missoula County Jail.
