Robert Leonardi Memorial Will Be Thursday

The public will be attending a Thursday morning memorial for Robert Anthony Leonardi, a 9-year-old who died this weekend after being hit by a speeding van on Golf Course Road in Hamilton. The 11 a.m. ceremony July 11th will be at the Hamilton Middle School on south 5th Street. Leonardi, the son of Philip and Alyce Leonardi, had just completed second grade.

The driver of the vehicle, Joseph John McNamara, has been charged with negligent homicide and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. He is in jail with a $500,000 bond. Officials estimate the van was traveling at twice the 35 mph speed limit on the road when it hit the boy who was crossing the road on his scooter.
