Realtors Group Targets Missoula County Attorney’s Office [AUDIO]
The Missoula Organization of Realtors has sent out postcards to numerous Missoula households with a 'property action alert'.
Public Affairs director Austin James explains that the postcard was sent to inform property owners about a change of interpretation by the Missoula County Attorney's office. The change affects created tracts of land that had been previously legally recognized under the mortgage parcel exemption clause, and are no longer being legally recognized.
James says the new interpretation will hinder the right to freely own, use and transfer real property, limit land transfers and have a negative effect on property values, and onstruct commercial and residential growth in the county.
The card encourages property owners to contact the County Attorney's Office.

Deputy County Attorney James McCubbin has been so deluged with calls, he has left a message on his voice-mail in response to the public's questions. McCubbin says the issue now before the Montana Supreme Court affects only a tiny fraction of property owners, and he is mystified by the public response to the campaign by the Missoula Organization of Realtors. McCubbin refers callers to the issue as it is addressed on the Missoula County website.
