Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 9, 2025, a Missoula Police Department Officer was contacted by a Probation Officer (PO) regarding 37-year-old Lyle Kickingwoman. The PO advised the officer that Kickingwoman had failed to report to probation following an incident wherein which Kickingwoman was instructed to report. The officer was also aware of the incident that had occurred the previous night.

At approximately 4:34 PM, the officer was patrolling near the Poverllo Center, where he observed Kickingwoman on the sidewalk. The officer made contact with Kickingwoman and informed him of the reason for contact. The officer notified the PO via phone, and the PO requested a probation search of Kickingwoman and his property. The PO further requested Kickingwoman be placed under arrest and booked into jail on a probation hold.

The officer asked Kickingwoman if he had anything on him that he was not supposed to have, and Kickingwoman stated he had two clean “lokes” in his pocket. The officer is familiar with the term and knows it to be a slang term used by drug users to refer to methamphetamine pipes.

A Search Reveals Drugs and Paraphernalia

The officer conducted a search and located two glass pipes inside a white foam protective pouch in Kickingwoman’s right front pants pocket. In Kickingwoman’s shirt pocket, the officer located a small ziplock-style baggie. Kickingwoman stated he picked the baggie up off the ground. The officer observed the baggie to be of the type used to store dangerous drugs.

Within Kickingwoman’s left front pants pocket, the officer located six additional small zip-lock style baggies, two cut blue straws, and a broken glass stem from a meth pipe. Noting that the straws were diagonally cut to form scooping ends, which are commonly used by drug users to transfer powdered substances into pipes. Additionally, in the same pocket, the officer found a baggie containing a light-colored powdery substance, which the officer believed to be fentanyl.

The officer then continued the requested probation search and next searched Kickingwoman’s backpack, which contained no contraband. The suspected fentanyl powder was field tested and indicated a presumptive positive for fentanyl.
