If you see smoke in the forest there's a good chance, you're seeing the effects of a prescribed burn. Public affairs officer for Lolo national forest, Boyd Hartwig spoke with KGVO about the burning schedule, the purpose of the burns,  and what the public can expect.

May is a prime month for prescribed burning so expect more controlled burns when the winds aren’t blowing too hard and the weather is right. The scheduled burns will stop during the dry summer and start back up again in the fall.
