It only took a few days, but Gary Marbut's course entitled “Gun Safety for Personal Protection and Concealed Weapon Permits” scheduled for April 1, has already sold out.

Not to worry, though, Marbut, President of the Montana Shooting Sports Association, said another course will be offered a few weeks later.

"These classes have been so popular that, frankly, this one is already full," Marbut said. "However, I'll be scheduling another one a little bit later in April. This covers firearms safety, shooting skills, use of force, Montana gun laws, kids and guns, firearms security and many other topics."

Marbut said his course is broken down into two sections.

"We do the morning in the classroom and then the afternoon outdoors on the shooting range," he said. "It involves the academic topics of allowable use of lethal force and then the actual 'hands-on' shooting skills development and improvement in the afternoon."

The price of the course is $100, and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Marbut via email at or by contacting the Montana Shooting Sports Association.
