Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - A woman is dead and two others were shot and wounded by a man in Ferndale, located in Lake County on Sunday night.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell said a report of a disturbance was called to the Lake County 9-1-1 center just after 9:00 p.m.

The Name of the Victim has Been Released as a Woman from Bigfork

The incident took place at a residence on Cayuse Lane in Ferndale.

Not long after the initial report, a man called 9-1-1 to report that he had been shot by the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Matthew Vitek, of Bigfork. Lake County authorities took Vitek into custody.

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies rendered first aid to three shooting victims.

It was determined at the hospital that 56-year-old Tammi Jordan on Bigfork died of her wounds.

The Other Two Shooting Victims are in Stable Condition at a local Hospital

The identities of the other two victims have not been released, however, Sheriff Bell said the other two shooting victims were in stable condition as of early Monday morning.

The fatal shooting victim has been transported to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for an autopsy.

The Suspect will be Charged with Deliberate and Attempted Deliberate Homicide

The suspect, Matthew Vitek is currently in the Lake County Jail and faces charges of deliberate homicide and attempted deliberate homicide.

Sheriff Bell thanked the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the response to the incident and the subsequent investigation.
