GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The sheriff of Grand Forks County, N.D., says he has sent two investigators to Butte, Mont., to aid in the search for an 82-year-old woman who disappeared in October during a trip to Washington state.

Investigators say Florence Dumontet cashed a traveler's check at a Town Pump in Butte at about 9 p.m. on Oct. 16. She was expected to arrive in Shelton, Wash., the next day and her family says she usually stayed overnight in Missoula.

Grand Forks County Sheriff Bob Rost says the snow is melting and it's important to search the 118-mile area between the Montana towns of Butte and Missoula before the trees start to leaf out.

Rost says many searches have been conducted in the area.
