The National Park Service is looking for public input on a new Environmental Impact Statement for Bison Management. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Spokesperson Andrea Jones says the current plan has been around for quite some time.

"This plan that we are woking under right now as the Interagency Bison Management Plan partners has been in place since the year 2000," Says Jones "[It] began being implemented in the year 2000, and things change in time, we are at 2015, and we've learned a lot about bison, we have learned a lot about biology and how best to manage them."

Jones says there are six different plans on the table for consideration, many of which take into account new science on managing brucellosis. The public comment period will be open for about three months.

"Its important for folks to know that in the time period between now and June 15th, when the comment period ends there will be, and we will be announcing, public meetings," Jones said. "So that people can get there questions answered about this in Bozeman, and the two gateway communities, West Yellowstone and Gardiner."

Jones said that comments and thoughts can be delivered via mail or email on the National Park Service: Planning, Environment and Public Comment Webpage.
