Name of Man Killed in MRL Accident Released

This morning, April 5, the Missoula County Sheriff's office released the identity of a man killed in a train accident at the Montana Rail Link rail yard as 57-year-old Richard Schmitz.

The Missoula County Sheriff's Department sent out a press release, stating, "The cause of death has been determined as blunt force trauma, while the manner is accidental. Members of the Missoula Police Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Our thoughts are with the family and co-workers of Mr. Schmitz during this difficult time.

The accident occurred early Monday, April 4, but details about what caused the accident have not yet been released. The Sheriff's office will likely release details on the cause of death later today.
