For possessing and sharing child pornography, a 41-year-old northern Idaho man faces a decade in federal prison.

Charley Brigham Leighton II of Hayden Lake pleaded guilty on Monday in U.S. District Court in Coeur d'Alene to viewing explicit images and videos showing kids from the U.S. and Europe.

Leighton admitted he'd been downloading child pornography for at least a year, including over a thousand images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Leighton faces punishment of up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervised release once he gets out.

He's due to be sentenced in January.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children determined the children were from Missouri, Georgia, Connecticut, Michigan, Florida, and Washington; and France, Germany, Brazil, Belgium, England and the Netherlands.
