Murder Suspect Appears in Court

Raymond Lee Big Beaver, accused of helping to beat a transient to death last summer in downtown Missoula, made another appearance in court today. I spoke with Missoula County Attorney Fred Van Valkenberg about the case, and he was kind enough to allow me to share that interview with you.

Van Valkenberg thought it ironic that a group of people focused on protecting the rights of a discriminated class were just a few feet away from a homeless man being beaten to death in an alley. Big Beaver remains in jail on $250,000 bail. His trial was continued until August.
