MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — The Montana Highway Patrol says a Missoula motorcyclist has died after hitting a bighorn sheep near Plains and being thrown into oncoming traffic.

Police say the 39-year-old man was driving east on Highway 200 about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when a bighorn sheep jumped the guard rail and struck the man's Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Police say the man was thrown into the westbound lane where he was hit by a 2000 Ford Expedition.

The Expedition driver was unhurt, but the man died at the scene. His name has not been released.
