Ty Gregorak, for 12 years, either an assistant, or for the last four years, the Defensive Coordinator for the Montana Grizzlies, has been named the new defensive coordinator for the Bobcats of Montana State.

Long-time Voice of the Grizzlies Mick Holien said he has worked closely with Gregorak for many years in preparing his Grizzly football broadcasts.

"Those of us in Grizzly-land have nothing but respect for Ty and his aspirations," Holien said. "He's done a great job at Montana in developing the defense he plays. I knew him closer than many other coaches, because I dealt with every day on game-day. Those are tough, tough decisions, but I'm not a Bobcat-hater, and I wish him nothing but the best of luck."

Holien said Gregorak had significant challenges on defense in game after game when big plays would provide the opposing team a chance to score.

"Big plays just hurt them tremendously, and he just couldn't seem to get that solved," he said. "I don't know if that was a case of not having the talent, athleticism or the speed, and I know it was a very difficult decision. Those kinds of moves are made with a pain in your heart and a pain in your gut. I think that he feels that this is the road to being a head coach in the future. I really thought he might succeed Bob Stitt someday. Apparently, Ty feels like this is the way to move to the big time."

Montana Sports Information has released a statement regarding the move.

“We would like to thank Coach Gregorak for his years of service to the Montana football program, and we wish him all the best in his career moving forward. We will make an announcement regarding the new Defensive Coordinator in the near future.” - Coach Bob Stitt.
