As chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Montana Senator Max Baucus has released a plan, to end billions of dollars in tax breaks, for the 5 largest multinational oil and gas companies. After companies like Exxon/Mobile released record profit numbers, and gasoline approaches $4 a gallon. Executive Director of the Montana Petroleum Association Dave Galt says  the proposed provision to repeal the incentive would tilt  the competitive playing field in favor of refineries outside the state that continue to qualify for the deduction, meaning a loss of American jobs, in Montana.

Galt says this could disadvantage 60% of Montana’s refining operations and the jobs associated with them.
