Montana's unemployment rate was basically unchanged in the month of June, holding still at 6.3%. The national unemployment rate was also locked in at the same rate it held in May, 8.2%.

There is wide variance behind Montana's rate, however, as many of the states eastern counties have an unemployment rate close to zero, while some western counties like Lincoln county have reached double digit unemployment. Montana Labor and Industry Commissioner Keith Kelly had this to say on June's report.

Estimates based on payroll employment indicate an increase in private sector jobs. However, job losses in the government sector helped to level out those gains.
