Montana Tennis Signs Oregon Transfer
MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Montana women's tennis coach Steve Ascher has announced the signing of Oregon transfer Haley Driver.
Driver, of Scottsdale, Ariz., committed to Boise State in the fall of 2010, but weeks later, the coaching staff was fired for NCAA recruiting violations involving another player.
Driver changed her commitment to Oregon, where she posted a 9-1 singles record last fall. But she felt like tennis was dominating her life and she sought more balance. She emailed Ascher, committed to the Grizzlies and will be eligible to play in the fall as a sophomore.
Driver was ranked as high as No. 20 nationally as a junior tennis player while attending Mt. Everest Academy in San Diego.
Her juniors coach was Wolf von Lindenau, who played at Montana State.
