Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Montana Senator Steve Daines called into the KGVO Newsmakers Line on Thursday to discuss a number of topics he’s working on in Washington, D.C.

Since the U.S. Justice Department confirmed this week that the COVID-19 pandemic could be traced directly back to a lab in Wuhan, China, that opens up the possibility of finding China financially liable for the damages that the pandemic caused in the United States.

Could China be Held Financially Liable for COVID Pandemic Damages?

“This is a very, very significant development, and it's got to be investigated,” began Daines. “The problem is that you have the World Health Organization in cahoots with the Chinese and they want to cover this all up because this is a massive liability. This would be the biggest liability lawsuit ever. I'm not a big fan of trial lawyers. I didn't go to law school. I'm an engineer by degree but I’ll tell you what, I think we have a really good case here in terms of going after Chinese for liability for literally trillions and trillions of dollars because it's very likely that the Coronavirus started as a result of a leak out of the Wuhan lab.”

Daines Called out Democrats for their Ban on Gas Stoves

Daines also ridiculed the Biden Administration for attempting to ban a large percentage of gas stoves in the name of green energy.

“So here's the quick story,” he said. “Last fall, the administration started targeting gas stoves, and then the White House press secretary in January, walked that back and said, no, no, no, President Biden doesn't support the ban because it was so ridiculous. Well, guess what? His administration is now moving forward. “The Department of Energy now has a rule out that will ban 50% of the gas stoves in the United States, so this is an example of where the Democrats are living in this green hallucination.”

Another example Daines used was a point in the President’s State of the Union speech in regards to energy.

“These Democrats are worshiping a green religion,” he said. “We all know their goal is to get rid of fossil fuels. The reality is the world is going to need 50 percent more energy in the next 25 years than we have today. Coal, oil and natural gas will continue to supply the majority of our energy needs for the next nearly 30 years, and so this is why we've got to push back on this nonsense.”

Daines Reminded Montanans that Jon Tester has Voted to Increase Inflation

Addressing inflation, Daines reminded KGVO listeners that Montana’s own Senator Jon Tester has voted to fuel the fires of inflation with his votes.

Now, remember something,” he said. “Every single Senate Democrat, including the senior Democrat from Montana, supported some of these massive stimulus spending bills to the tune of about $3 trillion. We were warning the Democrats and warning the American people that you can't keep launching these cash cannons of multi trillion dollar partisan spending packages. Every Republican voted no. Every Democrat voted yes. And guess what? Those were the sparks that ignited this inflation fire.”

Daines and his office recently produced some videos in which Montana families showed how inflation has drastically reduced their standard of living.
