Montana Gas Prices Fall for 11th Consecutive Week
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Montana gas prices have now dropped 11 weeks in a row. Patrick De Haan is the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy and he provided the current numbers.
“Average gasoline prices in Montana have fallen 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.18 per gallon today,” De Haan said. “Prices in Montana are 17.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 72.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.”
As of Monday morning, many stations in Missoula had their prices set to around $3.18 per gallon.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Montana was priced at $3.01 per gallon yesterday while the most expensive was $3.60 per gallon.
Montana is currently ranked 18th in the U.S. when it comes to the average price of gas, which is the same spot as last week.
“The national average price of gasoline has risen 3.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.16 per gallon today,” De Haan said. “The national average is unchanged from a month ago and stands 41.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 3.4 cents in the last week and stands at $3.57 per gallon, the lowest level since January 2022, over 900 days ago.”

De Haan expected the national average to climb after Iran's attack on Israel.
“For now, while Milton has left a third of all stations in Florida without gas, the storm itself is not impacting prices, and the situation in Florida is expected to improve," said De Haan. "With oil prices recently starting to fall again, the rise we saw could end before you know it. And with restoration happening in Florida, we could start to see a decline in gas prices in the weeks ahead, with a good chance of seeing the first sub-$3 per gallon national average since 2021."
