Montana Man Charged With Felony DUI After Running Red Light
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On August 13, 2025, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a Montana Highway Patrol Trooper observed a Jeep Grand Cherokee run a red light at the intersection of England Blvd. and Reserve St. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver of the Jeep, 30-year-old Marcus Cross.
The trooper noticed that Cross smelled strongly of consumed alcohol. The trooper could also smell alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, as though a beverage had been spilled. According to court documents, the trooper later confirmed that alcohol had been spilled behind the passenger seat.
While the trooper spoke with Cross, he noticed that Cross appeared to be trying to avoid facing him. The trooper knows this is often done by individuals to mask the fact that their breath smells of alcohol. Court documents indicate Cross admitted to consuming one alcoholic beverage. Cross said he was driving somewhere to gamble.

The Trooper asked Cross to conduct the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Cross demonstrated 4 out of 6 clues of impairment on the HGN Test, 6 out of 8 clues of impairment on the Walk-and-Turn Test, and 3 out of 4 clues of impairment on the One-Leg-Stand Test.
Cross refused to provide a breath sample on the PBT unit. However, he agreed to submit to a blood test after being read the Implied Consent. After a blood draw at the hospital, Cross was taken to the Missoula County Detention Center.
