A car crash that occurred in the middle of the afternoon on Tuesday at a busy Missoula intersection may have been the result of drunk driving. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains what happened.

"Just before 3:00 p.m., officers responded to the report of a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of South Avenue and Reserve Street," Welsh said. "When they arrived there was only one obvious vehicle, however they later found the second vehicle which was a few hundred feet to the north which had pulled to the side of Reserve Street."

Police conducted a sobriety test on the scene and arrested one of the drivers on a felony charge, related to DUI and one of the passengers involved.

"The vehicle that was further north was being driven by a 23-year-old female," Welsh said. Also in the car was a four-month-old infant. Officers continued their investigation and eventually placed Mrs. Emily Becket the driver of that other car under arrest for DUI and Criminal Child Endangerment."

The infant did not receive any obvious significant injuries during the crash, nor did the drivers of the two vehicles. Though Beckett was arrested for DUI, it is still unclear if she caused the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
