More details about a strange chase have been released by Missoula Police. The event started at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, when an officer tried to pull over a woman near the Missoula Detention Center on Mullan Road, but the incident quickly escalated into a chase that ended on Orange street, right outside of the NBC Montana building.

"An officer was actually leaving the jail and a woman ran up to him and flagged him down, pointing to another vehicle in the parking lot that she said had nearly hit her," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "The officer attempted to direct the woman in the offending vehicle to pull over and shut-off her engine, but instead, she revved her engine and drove out of the parking lot."

Video from NBC Montana shows the woman trying to get into KECI building, it also shows her driving her car across multiple oncoming traffic lanes and then up onto the sidewalk. So far, though, it is unclear what led to the chase. Substance abuse does not appear to have been a factor.

"We are in the process of trying to find out whether or not there was anything more to it  and why she chose to drive away rather than meet with the officer outside of the jail," Welsh said. "Her name was Kathy Lamb she is 45-years of age and a Missoula resident."

Lamb was charged with disorderly conduct, eluding or evading a peace officer, and criminal endangerment. Welsh says an investigation is still ongoing and could result in more charges.
