Missoula Weekly Crime Report: Fewest Number of Cases Since the Start of COVID-19
The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed eight new criminal complaints this week, which is significantly less than normal. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, two of those cases were felony DUI offenses.
“In one of them, a 911 caller called in an erratic driver who was allegedly going 100 miles per hour, had almost hit other cars, and crashed his own vehicle around six times,” Pabst said. “The defendant allegedly drove through a crash scene where there was a highway patrol trooper conducting a different investigation.”
Pabst said that trooper caught up to the defendant and observed him driving across the lane of traffic.
“He was stopped and then allegedly parked halfway into the driving lane,” Pabst said. “He was found to not be wearing a seatbelt and there were allegedly multiple empty drinks on the floor and one in the cup holder. Then the defendant allegedly failed all of the standard field sobriety maneuvers.”
In addition, Pabst said her office filed one new property crime and that case involved a stolen vehicle.
“That defendant was also found to be in possession of heroin,” Pabst said. “Finally, we filed two new drug cases that were felony offenses. They both involved possession of methamphetamine. In one, the defendant was actually charged with possession of meth and driving under the influence of meth, which we don’t see a whole lot.”
Pabst said she is also currently working on gathering all the data for her annual crime report and she will provide KGVO with that report sometime next week.
