Late Thursday afternoon, Missoula Rural Fire was called to a structure fire in Lolo on Lantern Ridge Lane.

Assistant Chief Chris Newman said the call came in at about 4:20 p.m.

"Luckily, the fire was right near our fire station in Lolo," Newman said. "When the first crews showed up, they found smoke coming from the eaves. They made a quick interior attack, and when they first got in there, there was no fire inside, so they started pulling some ceilings, got into where the fire was and quickly extinguished the fire which saved property and all the personal belongings of the occupants."

Missoula Rural Fire was assisted by crews from Florence Fire and Missoula Emergency Services. A fire investigation team spent most of the day on Friday at the structure, and determined that the fire originated somewhere near the furnace area.

No injuries were reported, and the female occupant was able to self-evacuate after calling the fire in to 9-1-1.

Damages were estimated at about $5,000.
