Missoula, Montana is the only community in America with ten separate Memorial Day observances. The day began with a tribute to the Navy and Coast Guard at Caras Park. Bagpipers escorted an honor guard to the overlook next to Brennan's Wave, as a wreath was tossed into the waters to memorialize the men and women who gave their lives at sea.

U. S. Army Sergeant Sam Redfern recited a prayer asking God to watch over all those in the military, and to comfort the families who have lost loved ones in service to their country. Part of the ceremony has been captured below. The ceremonies will end at Rose Memorial Park between 3 and 4 pm.
