Missoula police report that a woman called 9-1-1 from a local hospital to say that she had been stabbed by another woman in North Side Park on Tuesday night, April 29.

Public Information Officer Travis Welsh said the incident took place at about 8:15 p.m.

"The woman reported that she had been stabbed twice in the abdomen by an unknown female," Welsh said. "They had been interacting at North Side Park when a dispute broke out over the suspect's boyfriend. There was a scuffle, and the suspect pulled out a folding knife and stabbed the victim twice in the upper abdomen. She was taken to the hospital by family, and as of 8 o'clock this morning, she was still in the hospital. Her wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, and she is currently recovering from those wounds."

Welsh said the female suspect was unknown to the victim, but she was able to provide a description to authorities.

"The suspect is a Native American female, approximately five-foot six and 250 pounds and wearing a white Nike basketball shirt," Welsh said. "She was said to have scars over her right eye, and was accompanied by a second female who is described as having darker skin, shoulder-length black hair, about five-foot five with a skinny build and she was wearing a black tank-top and also had glasses. The man involved was Native American, about six-foot two with a shaved head, wearing a black shirt and shorts, and black Nike tennis shoes."

Welsh said anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Detective Sheila Moore at 552-6285, or Missoula Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
