Earlier this summer Missoular eached Extreme fire danger levels, and with all the storms this week Emergency Management Director Adriane Beck says we may reach it again soon.

"The fire danger in Missoula is 'Very High' and we continue to be under Stage I Fire Restrictions," Beck said. "We did have several storms that have moved through the area over this week but they really have not produced a whole lot of rain and so the fuels continue to dry out. It is likely our fire danger will continue to climb. It is likely we will reach 'Extreme' fire danger this weekend."

If Extreme fire danger level is put into place, Stage II Fire Restrictions will be up for discussion.

"Fire restrictions are something we look at with a very cautious eye, but it is something that is in reaction to the conditions that exist," Beck said. "As those conditions continue to deteriorate, we have the option to continue to impose restrictions commensurate to that hazard. As fire danger continues to rise, it may become appropriate to implicate Stage II Restrictions."
