Missoula Man Allegedly Held a Hatchet to His Wife’s Throat
On April 23, 2022, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to a possible suicidal male, being called in by his wife, Jane Doe. During that investigation, Doe disclosed that three to four days prior, she and her husband, 28-year-old Levi Wavrick, were arguing in their truck in a Walmart parking lot. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold explains.
“The Missoula Police Department responded to a call for service involving a domestic related issue,” Arnold said. “When officers arrived on scene, they became aware of a partner or family member assault involving assault with a weapon that had transpired.”
Doe described Wavrick as becoming extremely angry. She said Wavrick held an “axe” to her throat and said “shut your f*****g mouth.” Doe described being fearful that Wavrick would kill her with the axe. Officers noticed Doe to be hysterically crying and shaking during her recounting of the events.
“During the preliminary investigation, officers spoke with the victim who described being in a vehicle with an ax against their throat,” Arnold said. “Officers were able to locate the suspect, Levi Wavrick, and took him into custody. While taking Wavrick into custody, they were able to observe where the incident had taken place. They collected the ax and placed it into evidence.”
Wavrick admitted to officers he had a hatchet and provided consent to search the truck. However, Wavrick denied ever using it against his wife. Wavrick stated that had not been to the Walmart parking lot in over a month.
Upon a follow up interview with an MPD detective, Wavrick was largely consistent with his original statement to patrol officers, except he did admit to being in the Walmart parking lot on the morning of April 20th, 2022.
Wavrick is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon and partner or family member assault.
