Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Having a good handle on your health to start 2024 will be much easier thanks to Community Medical Center’s annual Health Fair this Saturday morning.

KGVO News spoke to Jennifer Bailey, Laboratory Manager to Community Medical Center for details on Saturday’s event.

CMC to Offer Low Cost Health Screening this Saturday Morning

“Starting at 7:00 a.m. and going until 10:00 a.m., we're going to be hosting our Health Fair over at our Cancer Center right here on campus at Community Medical Center,” began Bailey. “We're going to have a lot of great educational opportunities and then we're going to have an opportunity for some discounted blood work available.”

Bailey provided more specific information about what blood work tests will be available at discounted prices on Saturday morning.

The General Health Screening will only be Twenty Dollars

“The general health screening is going to be $20, and that's going to be a complete blood count which includes cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, a full chemistry panel, and a thyroid screen,” she said. “If you're not interested in that larger panel, we're going to offer a more abbreviated panel that includes the lipid and glucose and that's only $10. Again, that smaller panel is already included in the general health screening so you don't need to do both. In addition, we're going to do an add-on for a vitamin D screening, which is going to be $20.”

Bailey explained why the lab screenings are being offered so early in the new year.

Getting Lab Work Done now will Save Medical Costs Later in the Year

“Lab work is very expensive and a lot of times it’s applied to insurance deductibles,” she said. “Right at the beginning of the year, a lot of our patients haven't yet met those deductibles. Because of that, wellness screening really gives an inside look at a patient's baseline health. Also, this is a very inexpensive way to get access to that testing and you can just take those reports right over to your primary care physician and not have to have them repeated. And by doing it in this way, you can really get an insight into what you can do for your health going forward into the new year.”

The testing will be done inside the Cancer Center on the Community Medical Center Campus and there will be signage in the parking lot to guide participants to the closest spaces available.

The event runs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Community Medical Center, located at 2827 Old Fort Road in Missoula.
