Missoula Man Fires Gun Near His Roommate’s Head
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On March 20, 2025, at 3:21 a.m., Missoula Police Department officers responded to a residence on Cooley St. regarding a firearm incident. The complainant, John Doe, reported that his roommate, 31-year-old Levi Norris, became aggressive and violent toward him and fired a gun inside their shared residence. He said Norris also hit him in the head with the gun.
Upon arrival, the officers located Norris outside smoking a cigarette. He was taken into custody without incident and declined to provide a statement.
The officers entered the residence and made contact with Doe. Doe explained that earlier that evening, at approximately 10:00 p.m., he received a call from Norris asking for help arranging a ride home from a bar. Doe met Norris at the bar and booked them both an Uber ride home. Doe described Norris as being upset when they were in the Uber, but he was not entirely sure why.
Once Doe and Norris arrived back at their residence, Norris bashed his head against the wall approximately nine times, which dented the sheetrock. Norris then curled up on the couch. Doe fixed a snack and then sat down on the adjacent couch. Norris began to grow anxious and got up and went into his room.
Norris Returns With a Firearm
A short time later, Norris aggressively walked back into the living room holding a revolver-style pistol and pointed it at Doe's face. Doe put his hands up in the air. He estimated they remained in this position for approximately five minutes. Doe began to plead with Norris not to shoot. Doe believed Norris was going to kill him.
Eventually, Doe asked Norris if he was serious about his actions. Norris pointed the pistol directly to the left of Doe's head and fired a round. Norris then re-aimed the pistol at Doe. Doe continued to plead with Norris not to shoot him. Norris responded by pistol-whipping Doe in the head.
After some time, Doe convinced Norris to put down the pistol on a nearby table. Doe immediately grabbed the pistol, walked into the kitchen to unload it, and yelled at Norris to leave the residence, which Norris did.
Officers Found the Bullet Hole and Revolver
An officer observed a bloody wound near the top of Doe's forehead. Medical arrived on scene and treated Doe's injury. While Doe was being treated, an officer examined the couch and located a bullet hole next to where Doe was reportedly sitting. The bullet traveled through the couch and struck some carpet on the floor.
Doe informed officers that he put the pistol into a cardboard box near the couch after he removed the ammunition. An officer located the pistol, which was identified as a .38 special. The officer also observed five unfired .38 special rounds and one spent casing inside the box.

Doe told the officer that Norris had never behaved like this before and he suspected the incident resulted from Norris being heavily intoxicated. Norris was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. He is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon and felony criminal endangerment. His bond was set at $100,000.
