Van Valkenburg made headlines on May 1st when he challenged representatives from the U. S. Justice Department regarding their investigation into the county attorney's office. Van Valkenburg says he has not received any communications from the Justice Department since June, and that he has no idea as to what they are doing. He said 'it remains a considerable mystery to me'.
Johnson's trial is set for February 8th on a charge of sexual intercourse without consent.
