An officer on the board of the new Idaho Aquarium has pleaded guilty to federal charges for illegally shipping protected live corals to buyers around the world.

Christopher K. Conk pleaded guilty Monday to felony smuggling of goods from the United States and two misdemeanors — trafficking in wildlife and violating the Endangered Species Act. Prosecutors say the plea agreement calls for six to 12 months in prison or home detention.

Deidra Davison, who is identified in court documents as Conk's ex-wife, pleaded guilty Monday to the same two misdemeanors. She and Conk will be sentenced in March.

Federal wildlife officials became aware of Conk and Davison after one of their suppliers was busted for illegally harvesting coral in Florida.
