Authorities in northwestern Montana say a man suspected of killing his ex-wife and dumping her body in a wooded area near Superior has been charged with deliberate homicide.

Mineral County Sheriff Ernest Ornelas says 52-year-old Michael Woodard appeared in Justice Court on Monday in connection with the death of 47-year-old Kelly Jo Dube-Woodard. Bail has been set at $500,000.

Dube-Woodard's family reported her missing May 24, and her body was found May 27 about 6 miles from Superior.

Woodard was arrested in Nevada on May 25 and was jailed in Elko, Nev., on aggravated assault and kidnapping charges. He waived extradition on Friday and arrived in Mineral County on Sunday.

Authorities have not said how the woman was killed.
