Inciweb reports that firefighters are responding to a new fire approximately 17 miles northeast of Missoula and three miles east of Boulder Lake in the Gold Creek area on the Missoula Ranger District.

Boyd Hartwig with the Lolo National Forest said the fire was reported to Missoula Interagency Dispatch about 5:30 P.M. on Monday and is likely a lightning holdover ignition. The fire is approximately 20 acres and burning in timber in a remote area.

Two engines have been dispatched to the fire area to assess potential road access. Two helicopters are en-route to make water drops and slow the spread of the fire. Air tankers have been ordered for retardant.
