Traffic was stopped for more than two hours on Highway 93 north of Missoula Sunday after a fatal collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

The Missoulian reports authorities responded to the crash just north of the wildlife crossing near the Grey Wolf Peak Casino around 6:30 p.m.

Montana Highway Patrol trooper Nicholas Navarro said a southbound motorcycle had crossed over the center lines and hit a northbound pickup truck head on and the male driver of the motorcycle was killed.

Soon after the crash, the Missoula said the pickup truck caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames, but the lone occupant of the vehicle, was able to get out before emergency crews arrived.

Traffic was closed down in both directions until shortly before 9 p.m., when the road reopened.

The name of the deceased motorcyclist has not been released. The crash remains under investigation.
