Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 12, 2024, a Missoula Police Department Officer was dispatched to a disturbance in the 100 block of Pattee Street. The 911 complainant said a female was refusing to leave and put her hands on him and others.

While 911 dispatchers were on the phone with the caller, they could hear the female yelling in the background. When the officer arrived on the scene, he was immediately directed by multiple people to a female, later identified as 44-year-old Kham Mak, sitting on a bench outside the hotel.

The officer confronted Mak as another officer spoke with others on the scene. The officer noticed Mak was impaired. She exhibited mood swings, glossy eyes, and slurred speech. As an officer was speaking with Mak to try and get her to properly identify herself, another officer double-checked her purse for her driver’s license.

Mak started yelling at the officer, “Did you find it Mr.?” Mak then stood up off the bench causing the officer to grab her right arm. He demanded that she sit down. Mak forced her way out of the officer’s grasp while telling him to, “Shut the f**k up.” Mak started to approach the officer in an aggressive manner, so officers grabbed her arms and placed her in handcuffs.

An officer escorted Mak to the back of his patrol vehicle. When he opened the door, Mak got very confrontational and resisted. According to court documents, she refused to sit in the vehicle and screamed about her driver’s license. An officer walked to the opposite side of the patrol car and grabbed her handcuffs to pull her inside the vehicle.

Officers transported Mak to the Missoula County Detention Center. On the way, Mak yelled and was very aggressive toward the officers. While detention officers were trying to conduct their search and procedures with Mak, she was loud and belligerent. Multiple detention officers had to walk her backward through the booking area to place her into custody. As they were doing this, Mak kicked a detention officer in the groin.

While detention staff inventoried Mak’s purse, they found an orange pill bottle with a blue lid containing multiple pink pills. The officer reported that there was no prescription label in the purse or proof of a prescription. The officer learned that each pill is 20mg and they were identified as Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine. The officer seized the pill bottle, which contained 61 whole pills and 43 half pills.

Mak is currently being charged with felony assault on a peace officer, felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, disorderly conduct, and two counts of resisting arrest.
