Jackson Hospital Turns Off Fryer During Holidays
A hospital in Jackson is trying to help its employees keep off extra weight during the holidays.
St. John's Medical Center is turning off the deep fryer in its cafeteria once a week through New Year's, starting Monday. Instead of fried fish sandwiches and Tater Tots, fruit and baked potato wedges will be served instead.
The fryless days are part of a bigger wellness effort at the hospital. Employees can earn points that they can exchange for cash for maintaining or losing weight and participating in a fitness challenge.
