For most 18-year-olds, high school graduation is the biggest milestone of that transitional year.

But Montana's Jaden Decker will also be remembering 2024 as the year he signed his first major record deal, seeing his dream of a music career move to the next level.

Now, with his new single dropping this week, this newly graduated Big Sky High School student says he's making plans for more music, and more touring for 2025.

What are the details of Jaden Decker's new music?

Jaden got some viral attention for his songs this past year, with his powerful song "Thrown to the Wolves" racking up millions of streams, a reaction he admits was a bit "overwhelming". That helped to create more interest from Santa Anna Records, a division of Sony Music that had first reached out 18 months ago when his song "Leave it to Her" hit half a million views on TikTok.

Initially, Jaden waited to sign a deal, wanting to finish school first. But by this summer he was ready to go, signing a 10-song deal.

"They've been watching me and liking my stuff," Jaden told me this morning on "Daybreak with Dennis. "And so they reached back out a year later and now the knots tied."

The new single

Jaden started writing "20 Times Again" this summer, a song he says "has no backstory", but came together quickly.

"Instantly when I wrote it, something clicked in my head and it was like 'I think this one of the ones'. So I put together a work tape and I sent it off to my dad and my producer out in Nashville," he recalls. "And just a bunch of people to kind of get opinions. And they all liked it. And so we decided to cut a master track for it. And now we're putting it out."

It's an uptempo, but very powerful song about the stops, starts and regrets of a troubled relationship and can be found on Apple Music, Spotify, other music streamers and all of Jaden's social media accounts, starting Tuesday night.

Rather than do a full album, Jaden aims to stick with the EP format, the "extended plays" that have proven to build his fan base.

"I'm going to put out another single. Probably the end of next month. And we just decided what song we're going to put out," Jaden explains. "And then January, end of December, we're going to put out five 5 or 6 songs. And just be putting out a whole bunch of stuff next year."

Last year he did an extensive tour back east, and hopes to return, but says now the focus on the music, and then planning for a tour.
