Massive Influx of Adoption-Ready Pets at Missoula Humane Society

While the shelter was already quite full, when another shelter has a crisis, Missoula counterparts reach out.

That's the situation right now at the Humane Society of Western Montana. To learn more, we were joined by Janet and spokes-cat Mooshoo. They paid the radio stations a visit during another edition of Take Me Home Tuesday, sponsored by Paul's Pancake Parlor of Missoula.

Mooshoo is an adorable long-haired black kitten, 3-4 months old. Quiet, loving and affectionate with an ever-present purr, he is one of many new cats, dogs, kittens and puppies now waiting for their forever homes.

WHY SO MANY NEW RESIDENTS AT THE SHELTER?

While the Humane Society was already pretty full, they always try to help other shelters when they might have a crisis. That's what happened, so this past weekend, the Missoula shelter took in over 35 news animals, mostly dogs and puppies of all sizes and types. That includes a number of smaller dogs that are always in big demand. All have been vaccinated and will be spayed or neutered very soon. If you've been thinking about adopting a dog or cat, the window of opportunity just opened really wide.

"Immeasurable Impact - Beyond the Numbers" happens this Saturday, April 13, at the Wilma Theater in downtown Missoula. The shelter's one major annual fundraiser features food, beverages, amazing silent and live auction items, videos and more. All the money raised goes so far in helping the shelter keep up with pre-adoption vaccinations, spaying and neutering and onsite veterinarian support.
