Former Griz Football Star Coming Back?
This has been a real endeavor to watch unfold. Last year's starting quarterback Clifton McDowell has entered the transfer portal twice in the last three months.
In early January, McDowell tossed his name into the transfer portal to pursue a new journey outside of Missoula.
In late January, McDowell verbally committed to Temple University in Philadelphia.
In late March, McDowell reentered the transfer portal to leave Temple.
Most recently, McDowell quote tweeted his original tweet from May 2023 about a National Championship inbound at Montana.
The former Griz tweeted three hourglass emojis with his original declaration for the University of Montana. What does it mean? I have no idea... Some people insinuated he's attempting a comeback to the Griz, but I have zero knowledge of what's going on.
McDowell has spent time at five schools if you count Temple. He began his career at the University of Louisiana (formerly Louisiana-Lafayette), then transferred to Kilgore College in Texas, then Central Arkansas and finally Montana. In McDowell's one season at Montana, McDowell racked up 21 touchdowns, passed for over 2000 yards, ran for another 753 and led the Griz to a 10-1 record in games he started.
