When it comes to Montana's weather, there is only one thing you can count on and that is the unpredictability.

While we may occasionally joke about Montana's weather, there are times when the weather is no laughing matter. Montana can experience many extremes when it comes to weather, and that can be dangerous. It can also be record-setting, like the biggest snowflake ever recorded.

As we start to look ahead to summer-like weather the forecast is something we need to keep an eye on.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, a large portion of the country and the state of Montana are going to be in for a "hot and dry" summer.

Meteorological summer starts on June 1, while astrological summer starts on June 20, Last year the country saw one of the hottest summers on record. This summer is looking to be similar to last year.

When it comes to forecasts the Old Farmer's Almanac splits Montana into two separate zones. The forecast for precipitation appears to be uniform across the entire state and that looks to be a dry summer. Western Montana may experience slightly below average temperatures, but a majority of the state is forecasted to experience hotter than average temperatures.
