Montana BBQ Restaurant Ranks Among Top Barbeque Joints in U.S.
Montana is known for having some pretty great food, especially steak. But Montana has earned accolades for other food types, too.
- Montana's known for having a tasty burger
- Montana has a bakery that has set a world record
- A Montana Baker and a Montana Bakery have been nominated for a James Beard Award
- Montana's home to Dixon Melons
And with it being almost autumn, don't forget about Montana's apple orchards or vineyards.
But I think it's fair to say that BBQ isn't usually the first thing that comes to mind when you think of food Montana is known for, and that would be a shame because Montana has a fair number of quality barbeque restaurants and food trucks.
Recently, Love Food put together their list of the best BBQ in every state and we have to say, they absolutely got it right in Montana.
If you've ever had the BBQ at this Montana restaurant, then you know you have to go early or risk them selling out. Personally, I haven't seen "Burnt Ends" on the menu the past 3-4 times I've visited because I never get there early enough.
The Best BBQ in Montana is in Missoula
Notorious P.I.G has two locations in Missoula--one is downtown and the other is located on Old US 93 as you're heading to Lolo.
The food is so finger-licking good that they can literally run out of everything! Part of that is because they believe in serving the freshest food possible, and they limit how much food they make. But there's plenty of demand, too.
They have four sauces: Sweet Cady's, House Spicy, Fancy 'Sturd, and Caroline's Vinegar.
If you're not in the mood for ribs, brisket, turkey, or chicken, they have great sandwiches. And don't forget about the sides. The Fire and Ice Pickles are a real treat and sometimes they'll have specials. I had some absolutely delicious cornbread when I ate there this weekend.
